When people ask me what Rune is about, I'm not sure what exactly to tell them. I really wish I had a portable slideshow of pictures that would accurately explain a vague summary of the entire 9-part epic graphic novel, but not give away any good parts. Instead, here is a picture of my binder, a vague word-summary, and a pinup of the villain of the story. In the island country of Tyria, a young woman named Amarande is imprisoned for murdering her father, one of the nation's most prized warriors. After a dramatic escape, she discovers a whole new realm previously only dreamed about by mankind. Upon hearing from a mysterious figure that the gods have plans to end humankind, her father's oblivious protege decides to protect her on her journey to learn the truth. And hey! Here's that pinup of the "villain," Enyo, also pictured left. If I think about this realistically, Rune will be written by the end of April 2014. One might expect Book One to be available for your eyeballs' pleasure by the end of 2014, if all goes well. Large updates will be posted here, and tiny updates are posted regularly on my Twitter (along with sketches and WIPs and the occasional joke or musing).
Sometimes I am very motivated. Sometimes I am not. Remember when I told you all that I'd be speaking to you in comic form and releasing a ton of stuff on a regular basis? It turns out I was feeling motivated at the time, and while I am motivated right now, as well, the motivations are not the same. Bottom line: deadlines do not always motivate people. Sometimes they just make things worse. I am still working, though. For one, I did this recently: Her name is Haunt and she has absolutely no back-story. If you're feeling motivated, write one! Post a comment here or on Twitter, or you can send me an email (top right - the button shaped like an envelope will email me). I want to hear what you've got. Who knows - maybe I'll write a comic book about her. If I use your back-story, I promise I will credit you.
I have also been diligently working on Rune, and I also realized that you would probably like to hear what it's about. I will post about that soon. |
