Here's to pushing forward.
I'm off to a bit of a slow start in these first few weeks of January. I'm a bit disappointed in the empty days in my planner, and I want to work to not only fill them, but fill them with meaningful blurbs. Circumstances at home have slowed me down considerably, but the little slip of paper next to me that reads "NO EXCUSES" is reminding me not to use that as a reason to not work.
Here's to pushing forward.

I bought a planner a few months ago, and have been thinking about next year ever since. December marks the last month of Charcoal Thursdays and 5-Sketch Sundays, as I will be working hard on my prized graphic novel project Rune starting January first. I still plan on doing PokeMondays; however, I will be taking a hiatus from those as well. In the past, I've set deadlines for myself with comics, having no idea whatsoever how long it might actually take to complete pages or editing. That causes unnecessary stress and feelings of failure. Instead, I've decided (particularly since I also have a day job to maintain) to keep a planner, writing down what I've done instead of what I plan to do. Looking back on all my hard work should be much more motivating. To keep me from slacking off, however, I had to set some sort of guidelines for my work. I'm familiar with the editing process, so I've set a deadline for that, but everything else... well, take a look below. From November 30, including a commission sketch (top), a suggested "magic ham" (lower left), and some color scheme practice (lower middle).
